It is Amber Construction Services Ltd policy to ensure that every effort is made to ensure that the highest standards of environmental protection are achieved so far as is reasonably practicable. The Directors recognise that in order to achieve this, environmental considerations must be ranked equally with all other business objectives.
The Company shall so far as is reasonably practicable:
- Promote the conservation and sustainable use of natural resources
- Minimise environmental pollution in all of its own activities and, where possible, by its influence over others
- Minimise the environmental impact of all of its operations
- Give consideration to substitution of polluting substances with greener alternatives wherever possible
- Identify any potential smoke, dust, noise and vibration nuisance at the risk assessment stage and take necessary steps to minimise them
- Ensure waste disposal is carried out by registered carriers and removed to registered disposal sites. Documentation will be kept to demonstrate compliance with statutory requirements
- Endeavour to use biodegradable materials whenever practicable
- Recycle, reclaim or reuse waste whenever possible
- Not permit liquid pollutants to enter watercourses. This will include the specific instruction to control identified pollution risks. All liquid storage will be bunded whenever there is a risk
- Ensure environmental assessments are carried out for all identified hazards
- Endeavour to comply with ISO14000
- Review all its policies, services and activities and act accordingly to ensure theses commitments are fulfilled
Our company systems include the ongoing development and implementation of sustainable and environmentally beneficial solutions.
We adopt simple and effective measures to contribute to the well being of our environment. These measures include:
- The installation of energy efficient lighting at our head office.
- Purchasing dual fuel vehicles.
- Car shares and use of public transport.
- Material order procedure to ensure minimal waste.
- The recycling of all waste paper, printer cartridges, old computers and mobile telephones.
- Producing site specific “Waste Management Plan” prior to commencement of any construction activities.
- Identifying recyclable building materials as an alternative (subject to approval).
- Working closely with our specialist Waste Disposal Contractors to ensure all our construction waste is recycled as best possible.
- Actively promoting Green Roofing.
- Ensuring that all our staff and operatives observe our environmental policy at all times.

At present we are working closely with our consultants to structure our systems to achieve ISO 14001 accreditation by June 2008. |
